[Feature / App Idea] Luma Take — A Native Screen Recording & Streaming Tool for Content Creators
Creators using Luma currently have to rely on OBS Studio for gameplay recording, tutorials, and streaming. While OBS is powerful, its desktop interface is overly complex, not optimized for LumaUI, and lacks a touchscreen-friendly layout for handheld devices like the ROG Ally or tablets.
With 'Reel' currently in development for video editing, there is a clear gap in the ecosystem for a native, modern, and lightweight screen capture tool.
Concept Proposal: Luma Take
Luma Take would be a native recording/streaming app built with LumaUI. The core concept is simple: reimagine OBS Studio with the simplicity and modern layout of tools like CapCut, pairing perfectly with 'Reel' for an end-to-end creator workflow.
Key Features:
• CapCut-inspired Simplicity: Drag-and-drop webcam positioning, intuitive overlays, and quick scene switching.
• Adaptive Layout: Seamlessly switches between a full desktop layout and a touch-friendly interface for handhelds.
• One-Tap Recording & Live: Quick toggle for screen capture, webcam, audio tracks (game + mic), and direct streaming to Twitch, YouTube, or Kick.
• Hardware-Accelerated & Lightweight: Built using native GStreamer / OBS libraries under the hood for low CPU/RAM usage.
Note: The attached conceptual UI mockups were created with AI to illustrate the layout and visual language idea for the app within Luma Desktop.
