Will Sheets ever run Excel macros?

My office runs on macros. Sheets keeps them but does not run them. Is that permanent?

Preserved is the promise; running them is not on the roadmap. Macros are a security model we chose not to inherit. The file round-trips intact, which is what most offices actually need.
