The overlay redraws every other frame on high-refresh panels.

Workaround. Cap the overlay refresh at 60 in Game Mode settings. Games themselves still run at full rate.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enable Game Mode.
  2. Open the overlay in any title at 144 Hz.

Same at 120 Hz on a Deck OLED docked to a monitor. Capping the overlay at 60 fixes it for me.

Confirmed on three panels. It is the overlay presenting on a different clock from the game. Not a small fix; it needs the compositor to hand the overlay its own pacing.

Still present on 1.4.2 for anyone searching. The 60 Hz cap remains the workaround.
